Lyrics

Ba ba ba da Ba Ba Ba da da Da
Ba ba ba da Ba Ba Ba da da Da
Ba ba ba da Ba Ba Ba da da Da
Ba ba ba da Ba Ba Ba da

Riding on this wave of blue sequins
Shhiiimmmmm-eeerrrrrrrr-iiinnnngggggg

Tango Foxtrot I'm In trouble
Can you hear the ???? laughter and louder

[Chorus:]
I see you falling, gently onto the cobbles
Skipping into the quicksand
Not into my arms
I see I'm falling, gently onto the cobbles
Skipping into the quicksand
Not into your arms.

Ba ba ba da Ba Ba Ba da da Da
Ba ba ba da Ba Ba Ba da da Da
Ba ba ba da Ba Ba Ba da da Da
Ba ba ba da Ba Ba Ba da

Ears drop drip drip dripping down my ears
For gigs and tears
Delegating gently does it
Wont you delegate your hate to another
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

(Chorus)
I see you falling, gently onto the cobbles
Skipping into the quicksand
Not into my arms
I see I'm falling, gently onto the cobbles
Skipping into the quicksand
Not into your arms.

(Chorus)
I see you falling, gently onto the cobbles
Skipping into the quicksand
Not into my arms
I see I'm falling, gently onto the cobbles
Skipping into the quicksand
Not into your arms.

  • Narrative: we think we may have a band playing so we can cut to them, this is very common for indie videos as they take elements of preformance and narrative, miles kanes videos dont feature a lot of conceptual content and therfore i dont think it would be right for us to cover this in our music video as it wont be representive of the style we wont to portray.

  • Theme:  needs to be set in a working class area maybe a working mans bar or a snooker hall, if this fails maybe on a council estate as this is easier access.

  • representation of instruments: as this is a indie music video representation of musical instuments is key. these instruments need to be correct to the song, so therefore we need to chose a band that can play the instruments that we need. we also want close ups of these instuments and if the people playing them. it would also be helpful if the lead singer could also star in our narrative, like miles kane did in the "come closer" music video.

  • Audience expectations: the audience should be aged 16-25 most likely indie youths who like bands like the arctic monkeys, they prefer english bands to american chart toppers and  like bands such as the beetles.

  • Tone/ Feel of the music upbeat happy reminds me of old bands such as the beetles, good lively intro good for short edits good pace to the music.

  • Textual analysis - sophie

for my textual anaylsis i choose Miles Kane - come closer, my sheet shows how i analyised the camera shot/movement/angle, i pointed out that this kept the audiences attention through quick paced shots of short durations (1-3 seconds) if they did happen to be longer than this it was most likely that a shot was zooming in out out.  whilest singing the chourus the camera focused on th girls dancing suggesting to the audience that he wants to be closer to the girl the final "ooooh" & "ahhhh" shows quick shots of 1-2 seconds of dancing women and
    violence.
The mise-en-scene shows dark colours such as dark blues and reds the lighting is gritty and the set seems to be smokey. the clip with the girl dancing on stages with Miles watching her shows red lighting suggesting a sexual element. it seems that miles and this girl have sort of a lust and passionate affair going on with them both having close ups on either there eyes or mouth, the maority being after one another.
the basic narrative is that miles is in love with th dancer and she loves him too but she isnt allowed to stop dancing because she owes her "pimp". a sub plot is the undercover police officer trying to bust the pimp because of either this or some other offence hes made. the officer however gets found out and gets beaten up.
the themes of this like many other indie music videos has the style of council house run down england, the skin heads and the gangsters remind the audinnce of 80's england and the song also has that kind of tone, fitting quite nicely.
    Content:
65% preformance - close ups on band and miles singing
    30% narrative - short storyline
5% conceptual - off the wall in shots with no story line random close ups on dancers/fighting/gangsters
