Amber's notes for the power point

What Content, Style and Image will your audience expect from your music video for this artist?

Content:
Miles Kane’s existing videos seem to contain a lot of performance. There are a lot of shots of Miles singing and of other instruments being played, occasionally inter cut with bits of narrative.

Narrative doesn’t seem to be a prominent theme in his videos although the older videos do contain a fair bit.

Style:
The colours in the videos all seem to be quite muted and the over appearance is washed out, with a few points of colour which stand out against the mainly Blue and Red, colour filters.
The backgrounds also appear very sparse, and empty with the only other things on set being the performers and their equipment.
Narrative is set in simplistic locations which should be easy to re-create, and are very generalised
The general style of the video appears simplistic with easy to copy themes.

Camera work:
The camera work seems to be all straight shot, with a lot of Close ups, on instruments and performers.
Narrative shots appear hand held…
There are a few zoom out from close ups.
Close ups seem to dominate the videos.

Image:
Miles Kane seems to have a very down to earth image, very indie. His clothes are smart but muted in colour and he comes across as friendly and very everyday.
Man with a point to prove.

The image is constructed through the simplistic and very ‘normal’ settings of the video. The muted colours and washed out effect also give the impression that Kane isn’t in your face.
It should be easy to incorporate the all these things into our own video, maybe adding a bit more narrative. The simplistic nature of Miles’ videos means that re-creating the same image should be quiet easy, using red and blue filters, and easy access locations.
