Post artist research
Miles Kane’s solo career started in 2009 after his last tour with ‘The rascals’, he then signed with Columbia records and started work on his first album and the song “inhaler” was released from the album. Even before going solo miles had already had a large audience of fans from his previous successes in the bands ‘The Rascals’ & ‘The last shadow puppets’ where he was front man and lead singer. He still works on ‘the last shadow puppets’ with Alex turner who helped co-write some of his music.

Miles Kane image compares to the beetles, unlike many indie artists he dresses smartly wearing plain colours such as black and white or muted colours. He uses a lot of performance in his videos and uses hardly any narrative thus showing us that performance is one of his generic conventions. This shows us that he takes himself seriously as a singer of a band and isn’t so interested in making heavy contented videos such as lady gaga. As are artist is newly onto the solo scene it’s hard to see how his career will develop and change, we have already scene that in his recent video ‘come closer’ he has added more narrative, it’s hard to see if there is a storyline to the video but it generally is the basic step outline of his having this attraction to this girl when seeing her dance for the first time. The video is based more on performance than actual narrative and we end up with quick shots of them in this working man’s club seeing each other whilst in the corridors. Miles gives off this image of it all being quite English mob like as there’s money involved and other men that look quite intimidating.
