Website- compared to the mark scheme- Charlie

After designing the website idea, I looked at the mark scheme for what we would need to do to get a level 4 for our website:

  • Awareness of conventions of layout and page design
- This will be achieved by comparing Miles Kane's website and the websites of the band that he used to be in and see what typical layouts and structures they have and see the quantity of things what we will need to included e.g. the types of photos that are taken of him and the band. How the presentation of news about gigs and important fan information is laid out. Also how the text is arrange on the website that portrays the image and the general feel and look of the website.

  • Awareness of the need for variety in fonts and text size
- This can be done similarly by looking at Miles website also his CD cover and looking at the text that is used there. The main style of the text that Miles Kane uses is quite basic and the font is larger for the different categories to catch you eyes then medium font for the rest so it won't be too hard to replicate and find a similar font and size to put onto our website.

  • Accurate use of language and register
-The register and use of language on the website is quite relaxed as it just has text about what you need to know, tour information, information about where to buy his album from and about his mailing list. Again, this shows a relaxed yet simple approach to reaching out to his audience and not being too extravagant and fancy with the appearance. To make it similar, we need to make sure it includes all the vital information about him and information for the fans, but also making the site quite professional but not too much quantity of it.

  • Appropriate use of ICT for the task
- Using ICT won't be too difficult as we can access Photoshop to edit and photos and upload them onto our website that we will take when we are out filming at our locations. We can also use it to edit and change font sizes and the colours used on the website to portray the image of Miles Kane.

  • Appropriate integration of illustration and text
-  Whilst making sure that we have the best quantity and quality of text on the website, there also needs to be a good amount of photos on the website too so it doesn't appear too dull. To do this, when we are out shooting for our music video, we will take still photos with a camera of the cast and the main band and out Miles Kane of course, then after editing them on Photoshop in the mac suite, we can them add some of them to the CD cover and the rest will go on the website showing Chris both on his own and with his band, band members on their own and playing, and images of the two dancers and some of the equipment as well. We may also do some out take photos of the cast having fun and being together.
